CECOS University

Electrical Department Laboratory

This lab is used to support courses such as Digital Logic Design and Instrumentation, in addition to more advanced circuit theory courses. It provides students with their first exposure to practical Electrical Engineering. Each workbench is equipped with basic measurement instruments including a power supply, function generator, analog oscilloscope, multi-meter, and breadboard. Typical experiments conducted in this lab include studying and building the basic building blocks of a modern digital circuit like logic gates, adders, flip-flops, counters, and shift registers.

This lab supports Antenna, Microwave, Analog, and Digital Communication, and more advanced courses in Communication Systems. This lab has the equipment to enable students to study the basic properties of analog and digital signals and systems, and various techniques for transmitting data, voice, and video over the wire, fiber, and wireless media. The students also implement modern communication systems such as microwave communication systems, etc.

This lab is designed to assist in the teaching of basic and advanced courses in AC/ DC Machines and Control Systems. Students conduct experiments to investigate behavior of AC/DC Machines under various conditions. This lab will also house equipment for the study of feedback control systems and their properties. Students use frequency-domain and time-domain techniques to design controllers for the speed control of DC motors etc.

This lab is used to support courses such as Basic Electronics and Power Electronics, in addition to more advanced electronics courses. It provides students with their first exposure to practical electronics. Each workbench is equipped with basic measurement instruments including a power supply, function generator, analog oscilloscope, multi-meter, breadboard, and Power Electronics Trainers. Some examples of experiments conducted in this lab include studying the properties of electrical components and networks, verifying different network theorems, and building simple electronic circuits like amplifiers from discrete components.

The courses served by this lab include Microprocessors, Microcontrollers & Interfacing. Each workbench is equipped with a microprocessor, microcontrollers, Arduino and Raspberry Pi Kits, and a computer. Students also study the design of modern IoT systems including sensors, and actuators, and learn to build hardware and software for automating various tasks using microcontrollers.

This lab is designed to assist in the teaching of basic and advanced courses in power systems. Students conduct experiments to study various methods of generating electrical power, transmitting it over long distances, and then distributing it to individual customers.

This lab is designed to impart the students with the necessary hands-on practical engineering skills to design and build their prototypes effectively. The workshop is equipped with metal and wood lathe machines, electric saws, a sander, a grinder, a drill press, a welding machine, a gas profile cutter, and an assortment of hand tools. It also stocks different materials including metal, wood, and plastic. The workshop also houses Domestic Wiring Trainers. The students typically receive basic training on most of the equipment present in the workshop, and can also opt to train further on any machine.
