Electrical Department Laboratory
The thermodynamics laboratory is designed to complement the lectures, text and homework. It should help the students to gain a physical feel for some of the basic concepts of thermodynamics. The students will also get exposure to equipment that they may use in the future. This lab covers the fundamentals of thermodynamics and includes a compact steam power plant, separating and throttling calorimeter, jet engine, two-stage air compressor, vapor compression refrigeration cycle, IC engines, gas turbine, steam engine and thermal bench apparatus.
Applied Physics Lab consists of experiments from classical physics and it enhances the skills of students regarding the basic concepts of physics, for example, forces, vectors, laws of motion, laws of lenses, Lenz’s law and magnetism, the concept of the flywheel and other basics of classical physics. The lab inculcates in students the basics of physics with practical applications. APL contains various apparatus like Gravesand’s apparatus, Maxwell apparatus, centrifugal force apparatus, four-bar linkage, universal vibration mechanism, Hooke’s universal joint, flywheel apparatus, and others.
This lab is imperative for the engineering undergrads to accrue their knowledge domain and to develop their understanding regarding different manufacturing processing techniques as well as to develop their hands-on experience with various tools and machines/techniques with ensuring safety measures. The course majorly focuses and targets enhancing their cognitive and psychomotor skills. At the end of this course, students will be able to understand and use manufacturing facilities in their engineering projects. The lab has various machines like lathe machines, milling machines, drilling machines, power hacksaws, and grinding machines.
Instrumentation and control is a course that well defines the science of measurement and control of process variables within a manufacturing area. The lab is designed to get familiar with the control theory and demonstrate systems with desired behaviors. The process variables used are pressure, level, flow and temperature. An industrial rig is demonstrated for different industrial control processes.
This lab is equipped with instruments used in experimental and demonstrative studies related to heat transfer, IC engines and refrigeration and air conditioning. The lab contains the following equipment: laboratory AC system, multi heat exchanger, basic refrigeration unit, IC engine cut model, conduction, convection and radiation studying apparatus.
This course is imperative for the Engineering undergrads to accrue their knowledge domain and to develop their understanding regarding different workshop stations/facilities as well as to develop their hands-on experience on various tools and machines with ensuring safety measures. The course focuses and targets enhancing their cognitive and psychomotor skills. At the end of this course, students will be able to understand and use workshop facilities in their engineering projects. The lab includes domestic wiring trainers, a universal planner, a drilling machine, a wood lathe machine and a circular hacksaw.
