CECOS University, through the Centre for Digital Governance & Artificial Intelligence (CDGAI) in collaboration with the Chief Minister’s Performance Office (CMPO), organized a high-level summit titled “The University of the Future”, bringing together prominent education leaders, industry experts, and students to deliberate on the evolving landscape of higher education.
The event commenced with opening remarks by Dr. Mohsin Khan, Vice Chancellor of CECOS University, who highlighted the urgent need for universities to adapt to rapid technological transformation, shifting workforce demands, and changing learner expectations. He emphasized that the future of higher education depends on innovation, agility, and student-centered reforms.
The first segment, “The University of the Future: A Leaders’ Dialogue,” featured an in-depth discussion on governance models, inclusive admissions, digital and hybrid learning environments, future-relevant degrees, and emerging trends in teaching and assessment.
The panel consisted of: Mr. Shaifque Ur Rehman, CEO Rehman Medical Institute (Official), Dr. Faisal Khan, Director Precision Medicine Lab, Dr. Omar Usman, Director, FAST NUCES – Peshawar Campus & Engr. Sohaib Tanveer, Vice President, CECOS University.
The dialogue underscored the need for transparent governance, flexible learning ecosystems, interdisciplinary programs, and the integration of AI and experiential learning into modern education systems.
The second segment, “The University of the Future: A Students’ Perspective,” provided a platform for student representatives from leading universities to share their expectations and vision for future-ready institutions. Discussions revolved around student involvement in governance, equitable admissions, innovative campus environments, relevant degree offerings, and future-focused assessment methods. Students highlighted the importance of universities becoming more adaptive, inclusive, and aligned with global skill demands, while maintaining strong academic and ethical standards.
The summit concluded with closing remarks by Engr. Waqar Khan, Special Secretary to the Chief Minister / COO CMPO, who appreciated the collaborative effort of academia and policymakers. He emphasized that such dialogues are vital for shaping a progressive, future-ready higher education framework in Pakistan.
The event marked a significant step toward building a shared vision for the universities of tomorrow—anchored in innovation, inclusivity, and strategic foresight.
