The second edition of KPLDCon brought linguists, developers, researchers, language organisations and students together at Serena Hotel, Peshawar, on 7 October. The conference was organised by the Chief Minister’s Policy Office (CMPO) in collaboration with CDGAI at CECOS University.
This time the focus moved from why our languages are missing from AI to how we build them in:
– The shared history of Hindko and Pashto and the languages of ancient Gandhara
– Indigenous language communities of northern Pakistan
– Bringing Seraiki into Pakistan’s AI future
– Teaching machines to read Hindko with a purpose-built OCR model
– A tokenizer built for Hindko, the foundation for a Hindko language model
– Detasawy, a community portal for Pashto datasets
– Verto 2.0, now onboarding Torwali alongside Khowar
The conference was attended by Engr. Waqar Khan, Special Secretary to the Chief Minister, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Engr. Sohaib Tanveer, Vice President, CECOS University.
Our languages. Our data. Built together.
